Meghan Markle slammed for ‘insulting’ UK with latest move | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has been accused of “insulting” the UK with her latest move of not wearing a poppy during Remembrance weekend. The 44-year-old stepped out for a few events last weekend, with Prince Harry proudly sporting a poppy on his smart black suit on Saturday evening.

The couple, who were two of the 300 guests invited to Kris Jenner’s 007-themed 70th birthday on November 8, also stepped out at the 2025 Baby2Baby Gala earlier that day. Meghan’s decision to not wear a poppy caused major uproar, with sources even having to voice the real reason due to the backlash.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, sources revealed last week that Meghan was unable to visibly honour the war dead as poppies are not widely available in the States, unlike in Commonwealth countries.

Writing for GB News, royal expert Lee Cohen has now said, despite the sources comment, that Meghan’s decision is “insulting” to the UK.

He wrote: “Meghan’s relationship to Britain appears purely transactional – when it suits her. When respect requires effort or humility, she demurs.

“When it requires glamour or victimhood, she embraces it.”

Mr Cohen then added: “Meghan’s excuse for not wearing a poppy this Remembrance weekend was not simply unconvincing – it was insulting.

“But in a way, her absence of the flower was fitting. The poppy is for those who carry a sense of duty, gratitude, and loyalty.

“Meghan has demonstrated time and again that she carries none of these. Better she didn’t wear it. She is not worthy of it.”

Harry, who stepped out alongside his wife, proudly served in the military for a decade which makes him a veteran of the British Army.
