During Tuesday’s epsiode of The Jeremy Vine Show they addressed the recent scandal surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the monarchy. Presenter Jeremy, 60, was joined by panellists Mary Loudon and Albie Amankona as they questioned, “Could Andrew row topple the monarchy?”

In the latest update surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein debacle, Andrew is suspected of forwarding confidential reports to the convicted sex offender when he was government trade envoy. King Charles expressed his “profound concern” over allegations about Andrew and will “stand ready to support” the police if approached over the claims, Buckingham Palace said.

A Channel 5 viewer has thrown their support behind Meghan Markle and suggested she is owed an apology amid the treatment she has received.

Zoe from Birmingham began, “First I would like to start off by saying, on behalf of the British public I would like to formally apologise to Meghan Markle. Because in comparison to what is happening now, that woman was not bringing down the monarchy.”

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020. The Sussexes were frustrated amid claims of media intrusion, and Harry later stated the “toxic environment” of royal life was part of the reason they left the UK for Montecito, California.

Zoe went on: “This looks to me like King Charles has to step away from the throne.”

Jeremy quizzed further: “Why are you defending Meghan?”

She commented: “Let’s be honest, the woman ate an avocado. She was told something by her husband which she felt was kind of racist. She wasn’t in the room, bullied her for eight years. Said she was bringing down the monarchy.

“Look at what Andrew has done… it’s way worse than whatever Meghan did.”

Jeremy seemingly agreed, adding, “The Meghan and Harry thing looks like a picnic compared to this.”

Viewers flocked to comment on X as one argued: “They used her as a scapegoat. Meghan did nothing wrong. Prince Harry simply protected his wife and his children and took them out.”

Another wrote: “Big difference between Andrew and [Meghan], please don’t apologise for other people.”

Buckingham Palace announced the Sussexes would not be returning as working members of the royal family in February 2021.

After several revelations from the Oprah Winfrey interview, where they expressed their concerns about their time as royals, to Harry’s book Spare, the prince has opened the door to reconciliation and said that he had forgiven his family for the “many disagreements”.

Meanwhile, King Charles’s younger brother Andrew has come under fire amid his association with sex offender Epstein.

The monarch has confirmed he is willing to support Thames Valley police who have confirmed it is assessing whether there are grounds to investigate a complaint by the anti-monarchy group Republic, which reported Mountbatten-Windsor for suspected misconduct in public office and breach of official secrets.
