Call Me by Your Name premiered in 2017 and served as an adaptation of André Aciman’s 2007 novel of the same name. The film chronicled the romance between 17 year old Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet) and Oliver (Armie Hammer).

Oliver was a 24 year old graduate student working as an assistant to Elio’s archaeology professor father Samuel (Michael Stuhlbarg). Other members of the cast included Amira Casar, Esther Garrel, and Victoire Du Bois.

The script was penned by the renowned James Ivory, one half of the legendary filmmaking partnership Merchant Ivory Productions, alongside Indian film producer Ismail Merchant.

The film was set in 1983 in Northern Italy and traced the romance between Elio and Oliver as they explored their sexuality and mutual affection.

Call Me by Your Name represented the final chapter of director Luca Guadagnino’s desire trilogy, following I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2015).

The film garnered a host of award nominations and resulted in Ivory clinching both the Oscar and BAFTA Film Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

In addition to Ivory’s accolades, there was considerable praise for director Guadagnino and Chalamet for their contributions to the film.

Call Me by Your Name catapulted actor Chalamet, who was relatively unknown prior to this, into the limelight and significantly boosted his profile.

Chalamet’s performance in the film earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, making him one of the youngest ever nominees in this category.

His fame has continued to rise since then, with appearances in a diverse range of projects, including the Dune film series, historical drama The King, family film Wonka, and A Complete Unknown in which he portrays Bob Dylan.

Most recently, he featured in Marty Supreme and, according to IMDb, is set to star next in Wonka 2 and Dune: Part Three.
