‘Masterpiece’ film that’s Bruce Willis’s best is available for free – not The Sixth Sense | Films | Entertainment

Bruce Willis is known for his gripping action roles and this film is no exception. Released in 1995, one star-studded movie centres around time-travelling and a deadly virus.

The film shows the story of a future world which has been devastated by disease. A convict, James Cole (played by Willis), is sent back in time to gather information about the man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet. GQ have called the film Willis’ best role away from The Sixth Sense and Die Hard.

Starring Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt, Twelve Monkeys is a must-watch. Directed by Terry Gilliam, the film has a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

GQ says: “Willis is such a solid presence in 12 Monkeys, even as his most fragile, that it’s as if Gilliam himself reached back in time and grabbed a star from half a century earlier.

“That’s the Willis touch: Recalling an earlier, unvarnished form of Bogart-like masculinity while staying, somehow, rooted in the moment.”

In reviews, people have praised Willis’ acting. One person on Letterboxd who watched the film said: “This to me is the definitive virus movie.”

A rave review reads: “Incredible acting by Willis and Pitt. The cinematography is extremely distinct and memorable for such a surreal story and gives everything a unique identity.

“The editing is masterful as well. This is a film everyone should see once. It would be a crime to go into detail any further than that. All-time classic.”

Terry Gilliman is an American-born director, writer, comedian, and actor who first achieved fame as a member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python.

If you’re keen to watch Twelve Monkeys, you can stream it for free on BBC iPlayer.
