Marcus Rashford to make Barcelona ‘sacrifice’ as Man Utd exit nears | Football | Sport
Manchester United have shown marked improvement under Michael Carrick since he assumed temporary control following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal earlier this year. The interim boss has secured the club’s position within the top four despite making no additions to the squad during the January transfer window.
While significant attention centres on appointing a permanent manager, there is still speculation ahead of the summer transfer window. Questions remain over who will authorise such decisions, not to mention whether an incoming manager will endorse prospective signings or departures. Here, Express Sport examines the most recent transfer rumours circulating around Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford ‘makes concessions’ to facilitate Man Utd departure
Teamtalk reports Marcus Rashford has reached an agreement in principle to finalise a permanent transfer to Barcelona, although no contracts have been signed.
The United loanee has allegedly made two concessions to guarantee his place at the Catalan club next season, firstly accepting reduced wages, and secondly, waiving certain contractual bonuses.
There’s understood to be pressure to conclude the deal, with both clubs having agreed a £26.9m purchase option within the existing loan arrangement. Joan Laporta is anticipated to return as club president, with the permanent acquisition of Rashford expected to be amongst his initial priorities.
The forward has featured 35 times across all competitions, contributing 10 goals and 13 assists.
Altay Bayindir ‘edging closer’ to United departure
Football Insider reports that Altay Bayindir is pursuing an exit from Old Trafford this summer after spending most of the season as understudy to Senne Lammens.
Turkish outfit Besiktas are reportedly keen on securing the 27-year-old shot-stopper, who has managed merely 17 outings in all competitions for the club since his 2023 arrival.
Bayindir is understood to be seeking consistent first-team action, with a move back to Turkiye appearing a probable outcome.
