Man Utd player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: 2/10 has a horrid night | Football | Sport
Manchester United fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night despite an encouraging performance after an early solo strike from former winger Anthony Elanga. The Red Devils dominated the ball but failed to break down Nuno Espirito’s resolute hosts and remain 13th in the Premier League.

Man Utd player ratings vs Nottingham Forest
Andre Onana: 7
Didn’t have much to do. Would’ve been questioning how Elanga managed to get a shot off for his goal. Produced an incredible stop to deny a Ryan Yates header, not knowing he was offside.
Noussair Mazraoui: 6
Was partly culpable in the shoddy early opener. Had another good game as a wide-centre-back after that, though.
Solid as Ruben Amorim would like at the heart of his back three. Won most of his duels on a night when his lack of mobility was a concern against Forest’s electric attack.
Leny Yoro: 7
A very welcome returnee from the injury table. Strong in the tackle and his pace was desperately needed against the dynamic hosts. Outstanding tackle on Elanga in the closing stages ensured it remained 1-0.
Diogo Dalot: 7
One of his better performances as a wing-back. Created chances, enjoyed success in most of his duels and wasn’t among United’s many sloppy passers.
Manuel Ugarte: 4
The inferior of United’s two starting midfielders. Won just two of his six duels and looked off the pace before being hauled off at half-time.
Casemiro: 7
Helped the visitors dominate possession before making way on the hour mark. Threatened from set pieces and was formidable in the air. Was rightly fuming after being wrongly booked for a challenge on Yates.
Patrick Dorgu: 4
A positive outlet down the left, as he often is, but his passing was so poor. Yet, he wasn’t helped by Alejandro Garnacho. Offered an option but snubbed far too often.
Alejandro Garnacho: 2
The contrast between United’s No. 17 and the winger they sold to Forest to accommodate his breakthrough wasn’t a pretty one. A bad night for him.
Weak in the tackle as he failed to deny Elanga’s breakaway. Often ignored Patrick Dorgu on the overlap to blaze high and wide. His daft booking on 66 minutes summed it up.
Traditionally looked like the only United player capable of providing quality in the final third. Started in attack but he was all over the pitch. Crafted six chances.
Joshua Zirkzee: 4
Starting him as a striker, after claiming he wasn’t a striker, was the wrong move by Amorim. Some characteristically tidy moments in possession but never looked like making an impact.
Substitutes
United carried more menace after his half-time introduction.
Christian Eriksen: 5
Didn’t offer too much during his half-hour on the pitch.
Mason Mount: 5
Almost equalised shortly after coming one. Amorim will pray he can keep the midfielder fit.
Harry Maguire: 6
A huge threat after moving up front when he was introduced. Looked to have missed a glorious headed chance to equalise in stoppage time but Patrick Dorgu’s cross was slightly behind him.
