Major UK airport announces new flight routes – see full list | Travel News | Travel
Belfast International Airport has announced several new routes. The airport will see its winter schedule offer more than 400 weekly flights.
Meanwhile, there will be 70 routes available to travellers across the UK and Europe, including seven new routes.
The airport said customer demand over the summer has gone back to pre-pandemic levels with a record August.
Belfast International Airport saw a staggering 705,000 passengers in August, up 11 percent in 2023. August 16 was the busiest day where the airport saw a colossal 27,000 passengers.
Dan Owens, airport chief executive, said: “We have experienced one of our busiest summers on record as demand and appetite for travel continues to grow.
“By working closely with our airline and travel partners to increase capacity, we have been able to identify a range of new destinations that we know will appeal to passengers and boost connectivity for the region.”
The new routes for winter 24-25 from Belfast International Airport include:
- Prague, Marrakech and Fuerteventura with easyJet
- Salzburg and Turin with Crystal Ski programme
- Maderia with Jet2.com
- Kaunus with Ryanair
It comes as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have announced new flight routes from several UK airports for its summer programme in 2026. The low-cost airline has added flights and holidays to 57 sun and city destinations from across all its 12 UK airports.
Jet2 has responded to customer demand with it being the airline’s biggest summer programme. This includes 22 new summer routes and 14 exclusive routes for summer 26.
Overall, the companies will operate more than 1,700 departing weekly flights from across the UK including six new routes from East Midlands Airport, five new routes from Bournemouth Airport and five new routes from Newcastle International Airport.
Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic has announced new routes from their UK airports.
The airline, which is the second-largest carrier in Britain, will start new routes from London Heathrow to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Accra, Ghana.
The routes will operate from next year but will go on sale from September 12. Virgin Atlantic will fly to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh from March 30, 2025.
