The M66 motorway near Bury has been closed in both directions following a horrific crash late Sunday night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 10.30pm after receiving reports of a serious incident on the major route.

Police, paramedics, and fire crews have swarmed the area, shutting down traffic from J3 for Pilsworth to J4 for the M60 and Simister Island as they work to manage the aftermath of the collision.

Shocking footage captured at the scene shows a massive emergency response presence at the Simister Island roundabout, with flashing lights illuminating the night sky.
