Drivers are facing traffic chaos on the M56 this evening after a reported multi-vehicle crash that has sparked severe delays. Traffic is quickly building on a busy stretch of the major motorway near Manchester Airport, with emergency services rushing to the scene. 

Motorway camera footage shows long tailbacks, with National Highways warning drivers to allow extra time for their journeys. National Highways North West wrote on X: “Lane 1 (of 4) is closed on #M56 #Cheshire west between J6 (#ManchesterAirport) & J7 following a collision. @manairport. Emergency services are in attendance. Delays of 30 minutes above normal travel times, please allow extra time for your journey.”
