There were around four miles of queues on the M5 earlier this afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash, with drivers having to face delays of up to 40 minutes. Just after 4pm National Highways wrote on X: “Two lanes are closed on the M5 northbound within J2 (Oldbury) due to a collision involving at least three cars. We’re working to reopen the lanes.”

Around 30 minutes later the agency issued an update saying that all the vehicles involved in the collision were moved to the hard shoulder with all lanes reopening.
