Liverpool initiate talks for Yan Diomande

Liverpool have established “very advanced” dialogue with representatives of RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande, reports Sky Sports Switzerland.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric ascent in European football, having only turned professional when joining Leganes on a free transfer earlier this year.

His summer switch to Leipzig has proved immediately fruitful, netting four goals whilst providing four assists across all German competitions.

Liverpool reportedly view the Ivorian international as a candidate to help reconstruct their attacking department, though they face competition from other Premier League clubs who have also enquired about a potential transfer.

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in the player, but formal negotiations between Leipzig and any potential suitors have yet to commence.

Saudis ready to pay for Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has once again been called into question, with rumours linking him to a move to Saudi Arabia.

Despite signing a new contract in April that keeps him at Anfield until 2027, a challenging start to the season and his recent omission from the Liverpool team have reignited speculation about a possible departure.

The Telegraph reports that the Saudi Pro League could potentially finance a move for the 33-year-old, should he choose to leave his current club.

This is in spite of recent reductions in expenditure following significant spending in previous seasons, with the belief persisting that there may still be sufficient funds to lure Salah to the league.

Nico Schlotterbeck not on Liverpool’s list

Liverpool’s attention is likely to be focused on the centre-back market this January due to a shortage of options in that area. The Reds have been linked with several players, including Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, whose contract runs until 2027, making him a potentially valuable acquisition.

However, BILD reports that the German defender is not currently a priority for Liverpool, who have decided against submitting a bid at this time.

It remains to be seen who will become a priority in defence, with previous interest in Marc Guehi – whose contract expires in 2026 – making him a strong contender.

If other options fail to materialise, Schlotterbeck could find himself back in Liverpool’s sights.
