Liverpool and Arsenal are the only Premier League clubs left in the Champions League after a fortnight of last-16 action. Thanks to the new format of Europe’s premier competition, both clubs already know who awaits them in the quarter-finals. The Gunners take on Sporting over two legs following the Portuguese giants’ incredible comeback against Bodo/Glimt while Liverpool are handed a reunion with holders Paris Saint-Germain, who hammered Chelsea.
Thanks to knowing their draws, UEFA have been able to confirm the quarter-final schedule quickly, with the two English clubs playing on alternate days. And both Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed some tasty fixture runs as a result…
Liverpool
The reigning Premier League champions face a hectic month of April with a five-game run set to put Arne Slot‘s team to the test next month. And it is perhaps a nightmarish run given their form in 2026. Before they travel to Paris to take on PSG in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, they face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
After a midweek trip to France, Fulham await in an evening kick-off at Anfield. The 11th-placed Cottagers of dreaming of European football and Liverpool are yet to beat them under Slot, drawing twice (both 2-2) and losing once (3-2) in goal-filled affairs. They will not provide any respite before PSG return to Anfield the following Tuesday.
Whatever happens in Europe, Liverpool will need to be sharp for the following weekend when they face Everton in the first-ever Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Toffees have struggled to replicate their Goodison Park form at their new stadium but will no doubt be keen to make it a fortress against their bitter rivals.

The Premier League champions elect also have a tasty month. They, like Liverpool, have an FA Cup quarter-final to look forward to after the international break against Championship promotion chasers Southampton. The Saints are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run, so will be no rollover.
Thanks to topping the Champions League league phase, Arsenal are guaranteed to be at home in the second leg of the quarter-finals and semi-finals, should they get there. That means a trip to Lisbon follows the FA Cup clash. In between the two ties against the Liga Portugal team, who sit second behind Porto, Bournemouth lie in wait.
Arsenal lost at home to Bournemouth last season and conceded twice away at the Cherries in January, so that too will not be an easy game. Once their European fate is decided, Arsenal’s attention immediately turns to a mammoth match on Sunday March 19 – a trip to Man City. Many have long billed the fixture as THE title-deciding showdown, and with the table as it stands, Arsenal know that avoiding defeat at the Etihad would go a long way towards securing their first title since 2004.
