List of UK airports that have ditched 100ml liquid rule ahead of half-term | Travel News | Travel
- London Heathrow is one of the latest airports to confirm that passengers can keep liquids of up to two litres in their hand luggage when going through security
- Large electronic devices such as laptops can also stay in bags, and the longstanding rule that liquids should be placed in transparent plastic bags has been abolished
- Last month, Heathrow confirmed it was the world’s largest airport to have completely deployed the sophisticated CT scanners, which generate sharper images of cabin baggage and enable security personnel to identify threats more effectively.
- Heathrow stated the new technology can handle “thousands of passengers an hour with significantly greater efficiency, while maintaining high safety and security standards”
- Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and London Gatwick airports had previously installed comparable scanners in recent years, allowing passengers to travel with up to 2L of liquids through security.
Liquids allowed onboard the flight, as outlined by Gov.UK
- all drinks, including water
- liquid or semi-liquid foods, for example soup, jam, honey and syrups
- cosmetics and toiletries, including creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara and lip gloss
- sprays, including shaving foam, hairspray and spray deodorants
- pastes, including toothpaste
- gels, including hair and shower gel
- contact lens solution
- any other solutions and items of similar consistency
Baby milk or baby food is also allowed onto the plane, along with liquid medicines. There are some requirements for these, so it’s best to check directly with the airport on their website to ensure you pack them appropriately and do not exceed the limit.
