Queen Camilla once revealed that King Charles does a brilliant impression of Harry Potter to impress his grandchildren. Speaking previously on The Queen’s Reading Room, her podcast with writer Sir Ian Rankin, Camilla said her husband does the impressions while reading bedtime stories.
The 76-year-old is known to be an extremely hands-on with his three eldest grandfather to Prince William and Princess Kate’s children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Prince Louis. His two youngest grandchildren, Prince Archie, six, and four-year-old Princess Lilibet in the US with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Revealing that the King likes to do an impression of Harry Potter and friends, she said: “I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter. All the stories.
“I can’t mimic voices for love or money I’m completely hopeless at it.
I was a really bad actor at school and I’ve never been able to master the art of mimicry but my husband does it brilliantly, he can do all the voices.”
The Queen’s Reading Room was initially launched as an Instagram book club set up for literature lovers during the pandemic.
It was later launched as a charity in February 2023 with the mission of celebrating the power and benefits of reading.
Speaking at the time of George’s birth in 2013, the King said that he was “overjoyed” to have become a grandfather. He said: “Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time.”
Following the birth of his second grandchild, and first granddaughter, he revealed: “I am thrilled. I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old.”
The King was pictured sharing a sweet moment with his second-born grandson Louis in 2022. Pictured at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a restless Louis asked to sit on his grandpa’s knee. The sweet pictures show the then-four-year-old being bounced up and down by the now-King.
