JD Vance has been in contact “all night long” with Iranian leaders and Pakistan in a frantic attempt to push through a peace deal after President Donald Trump threatened to rain “hell” down on Tehran ahead of his impending deadline. The late night negotiations included the vice president of the US, envoy Steve Witkoff, Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, a source told Reuters.

“All elements need to be agreed today,” the source said. The plan outlines a two-stage approach to ending the war, starting with an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, followed by 15 to 20 days of negotiations on a broader settlement. Known as the “Islamabad Accord,” the framework envisions concluding the final discussions in Islamabad.

The final agreement is expected to include Iranian commitments not to pursue nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets, the source said.

However, a senior Iranian source told Reuters that the regime would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit corridors, as part of a temporary ceasefire.

The official said Washington lacks the readiness for a lasting ceasefire.

This comes just hours after Trump launched a series of expletive-laden posts and issued Iran a new deadline tomorrow, sparking fears of a potential military strike.

Trump threatened to target civilian infrastructure unless Tehran reopens the Strait of Hormuz on “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time”, 1am Wednesday in the UK.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, ​in ⁠Iran,” Trump said.

“There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***** Strait, you crazy ba******, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!”

He also threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges if this deadline failed to be met and repeated an earlier threat to unleash “hell” but contradictorily told US media there was a “good chance” of a deal being reached with Tehran.
