JD Vance says Andrew should face US Congress over Epstein links | UK | News

JD Vance has intensified calls for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to face questioning from American legislators about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The Vice President indicated his support for cross-party moves to compel the former prince to provide testimony to Congress, referencing recent comments by Britain’s prime minister.

“I saw Keir Starmer said something about this,” Vance said. “I’m certainly open to it.”

The VP explained that congressional Republicans would ultimately decide whether Andrew could contribute meaningfully to the continuing bipartisan probe into Epstein and the US government’s handling of his case.

“I’ll let them determine whether they should talk to Prince Andrew. I’d certainly be open to it. But it’s their call, not mine,” he added.

The development comes as King Charles ordered Andrew to vacate his Royal Lodge residence within the Windsor Castle grounds on Tuesday night amid growing alarm over the allegations.

Justice files reveal ‘incestuous’ elite connections

The Justice Department released files on Friday that demonstrate “there’s a pretty incestuous nature to America’s elites,” the Vice President said.

The materials include images showing Andrew hunched over a woman while touching her waist. Emails also showed Andrew maintained regular contact with Epstein for over two years following the financier’s conviction for child sex offences.

Vance argued the files cleared Donald Trump, who maintained a friendship with Epstein throughout the 1990s until the mid-2000s, when the President says he cut ties over “creepy” conduct toward young women at his Mar-a-Lago property.

Trump ‘outside the social circle’

“President Trump is very much outside of the social circle,” Vance insisted.

“He knows a lot of these people. He certainly has similar wealth and power. But he never really was friendly with Epstein in a way that a lot of these other people were.

“I think that it just shows there’s an incestuous nature to America’s elites, and it’s pretty gross. And, a lot of people, I think, it reflects very poorly on them. Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, a lot of others,” he told the Daily Mail.

Starmer stated on Saturday that Andrew should present himself to US legislators to disclose everything he knows about Epstein in order to assist his victims.

“Anybody who has got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they are asked to do that,” the prime minister told reporters.

“You can’t be victim-centered if you’re not prepared to do that.”

Andrew, spotted both driving and horse riding around Windsor on Monday, has remained silent on the latest document release, though he has consistently and forcefully rejected any wrongdoing.

The House lacks authority to subpoena Andrew due to his status as a foreign national.

Charles stripped his brother of his dukedom and princely titles in October following renewed examination of his Epstein ties after Virginia Giuffre’s memoir appeared posthumously. She took her own life last April.

Giuffre allegations and settlement

Giuffre claimed Andrew engaged in sexual activity with her on three separate occasions when she was 17 years old, including at Ghislaine Maxwell’s London residence, as well as in New York and on Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Andrew, who strenuously contested her claims, paid £12 million in an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022 to terminate her civil sexual assault case against him.

UK police announced on Tuesday they would evaluate an allegation that Epstein trafficked a second woman to Britain for sexual activity with Andrew.

The former prince ignored an invitation to sit for a deposition before the US House Oversight Committee after a previous release of Epstein files in November.
