ITV presenter Ed Chamberlin had to apologise live on television after punters at Cheltenham Festival swore in the background of their coverage of Gold Cup day. During an interview between Oli Bell and Paul from Preston, Tuesday’s ITV7’s winner, colourful language could be heard.

Gestures were also spotted in the background. Chamberlin was on hand to apologise once pictures returned to the main desk.

He said: “It could be a long afternoon for you as well Oli. Apologies if you picked up any language there, there was one gesture as well. You can’t keep away the idiots sometimes on live television.”

Attention then turned to the horse racing with the JCB Triumph Hurdle kicking off day four at the Cheltenham Festival. The big race of the day comes a few hours later with a highly competitive Gold Cup field.

The Jukebox Man, Gaelic Warrior, Jango Baie and defending champion inothewayurthinkin all in with a shout. Football manager legend Harry Redknapp owns The Jukebox Man and will be supported by most football fans.

Sir Alex Ferguson also has a horse running, with Maestro Conti involved in the first race of the day. However, it was 50/1 Apolon De Charnie who came out on top.
