It looks like PS5 players can get Spider-Man 2 free next week | Gaming | Entertainment
PlayStation fans might be most looking forward to Marvel’s next big hit with Insomniac’s Wolverine headed to the console later this year, but it looks like players should be able to play one of the studios previous super-hero games for free next week.
According to a report from Dealabs, which has a proven track record for accurately predicting new games coming to PlayStation Plus, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to headline the line-up of games coming to the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus for February.
Spider-Man 2 is technically the third game in Insomniac’s web-slinging series, continuing the story from 2018’s Spider-Man game and the Miles Morales mini-sequel. It launched in October 2023, making it a relatively recent title to hit the PlayStation Plus service by most standards.
Spider-Man 2 was received extremely well upon release with it achieving a Metacritic score of 90. It launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but has since seen some performance improvements for those playing on PS5 Pro.
Whether you’re diving into the game’s story for the first time or replaying it on a more powerful console, it’s a big win for PlayStation players this month – especially if you’re already paying for PlayStation Plus.
Spider-Man 2 isn’t the only game expected to launch on PlayStation Plus this month. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and Neva are also expected to join the line-up.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is a racing game published by Nacon in a similar vein to Need for Speed. It features over 100 fully licensed cars with plenty of online races to take part in, as well as a single player career if that’s more your bag.
Meanwhile, Neva is a gem of a 2D platformer originally released back in 2024. With a stunning art style and a story that’s a real tear-jerker, it’s well worth the four hours it takes to complete.
Sony hasn’t yet confirmed whether this is the correct line-up for PlayStation Plus this month, but we’d expect the console maker to confirm the announcement at Thursday’s State of Play event. That’s taking place at 10pm GMT on February 12, 2026.
If the report from Dealabs is accurate, it predicts that Spider-Man 2 and the rest of the line-up will be available to download on February 17. That’s next Tuesday.
Once the games launch on PlayStation Plus, they should be available to download from the relevant tab on your PS5 dashboard.
Will you be web-slinging through New York in Spider-Man 2?
