‘Iran will burn’ – Middle East on brink as Trump threatens devastating strike | World | News

A member of the Israeli government has warned Iran “will burn” as Donald Trump threatens a huge strike on the country tonight. According to Israeli journalist Hallel Bitton Rosen on X, a senior official in the security establishment told News 14 that they are waiting for the US President’s ultimatum to expire on Tuesday night (April 7), after which, if no agreement is reached, “Iran will burn”.

According to Mr Bitton Rosen, who is also a military and defence correspondent for Channel 14, it does not look likely that an agreement will be reached, as the hours tick down on the US President’s threat to obliterate Iranian civilian infrastructure unless Iran fully opens the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday night. The journalist added that the strikes are expected to target many “national infrastructures, with emphasis on energy”. “It’s advisable to prepare generators,” he added.

“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” the US President said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

“However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalised minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, who knows?

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world,” Trump said. “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran,” he concluded.

Mr Trump had threatened to target Iranian infrastructure unless Tehran agreed a deal to end the war on Tuesday, saying he was “considering blowing everything up and taking over the oil.”

He has given Iran a deadline of 8pm EDT on Tuesday (1am BST on Wednesday) to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
