Incredible city with Africa’s ‘coolest’ street and pretty beaches | Travel News | Travel
This incredible city is home to Africa’s coolest street. From awe-inspiring safaris in Botswana and the lively bazaars of Morocco, to the fascinating ancient history of Egypt, the continent has so many gems that make for unforgettable experiences.
Every year, Time Out reveals its ranking of the coolest streets in the world. 2025’s list includes a couple of thriving entries from the UK, with the complete list featuring more than 30 streets from across the planet. The top spot was nabbed by a road in Brazil, a country named the best to visit in 2026.
Yet the coolest street in Africa, according to this year’s list, is Kloof Street in Cape Town, which ranked 22nd globally.
As one of South Africa’s three capital cities, Cape Town already boasts some stellar beaches to visit and lots of tourist attractions.
Attractions in Cape Town include amazing views at Table Mountain, a taste of culture and history at Robben Island Museum, and the charming Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
But for those looking to delve into the best food, drink, hospitality and shopping that the city has to offer, a visit to Kloof Street is a must, according to Time Out.
“Kloof Street is where the city bowl meets the creative vibe of the Mother City,” says the publication.Â
“Equal parts heritage and hipster, its Victorian façades and broekie-lace balconies now house boundary-pushing restaurants, concept stores and cocktail dens.
“Essentially, Kloof Street feels like Long Street’s more refined sibling, packed with new pop-ups, old-world character and just a hint of mischief after dark.”
In terms of eating there, the list recommends that you visit Blondie, which serves up “Mediterranean-style plates in an open-fronted space”. There is also Vadivelu for the “bold, fragrant flavours of Southern India”.
When it comes to grabbing a drink, standout venues include Rick’s Café, Van Hunks, Asoka and One Park. Additionally, there are several hotels and accommodation options on and around the street.
Kloof Street was not the only African street to make Time Out’s list. Boulevard Pasteur in Tangier, Morocco, ranked number 30 on the list.Â
