Police have confirmed a male prisoner suffered serious injuries and required urgent medical treatment following the incident.

According to reports, he was found unconscious on his prison wing and lying in a pool of blood after the attack.

It has also been claimed he may have been struck with a metal bar in a prison workshop, although officials have not confirmed what weapon, if any, was used.

Sources have described his condition as “touch and go”, but authorities have not released details about the full extent of his injuries.
