Horror as spa worker gang-raped by 6 men – colleague forced to watch | World | News
A spa worker was reportedly gang-raped by six men while her colleague was forced to watch. Two people have been arrested but four others remain at large following the alleged attack on Sunday, February 1.
It is reported the knife-wielding men dragged the woman into a room before raping her. They filmed the ordeal, which took place at around 3.30pm in the Thiruvalla area of India, and forced a second person to lie beside the worker. The gang also stole Rs 2,500 (£24) before fleeing the spa.
The alleged rape came after the owner of the spa refused to hand over Rs 50,000 (£480) to the group. They were reportedly led by Subin Alexander, a 29-year-old repeat offender who already faced 11 criminal cases including attempted murder and theft.
Alexander had recently been released on bail under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act. He allegedly unleashed a dog on officers, injuring two, as they tried to arrest him in connection with the spa rape last Tuesday, February 3.
Meanwhile, Berlin Das has also been arrested in connection with the attack. The 38-year-old was charged with assault after being detained by local police on Wednesday, February 4.
The victim initially hesitated to report what had happened to police, with officials claiming the gang may had made efforts to silence her. However, CCTV footage was discovered and police are continuing to work to identify the remaining four suspects.
A local officer told South First on Friday, February 6: “There are six accused in the case. We have arrested four of them, including Subin. Two of the arrested persons have been remanded to judicial custody, while two others are in custody for questioning.”
The alleged rape took place in the municipality of Thiruvalla. It is the largest town in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, India, located in the state’s southern region.
Thiruvalla is often referred to as the “Temple Town” and acts as a major commercial hub of the region. It is known for its ancient temples, including the Sree Vallabha Temple which dates back to 800 AD.
