Hollywood blockbuster bomb loses Disney $170 million at box office | Films | Entertainment

Every year, Hollywood has its hits and box-office bombs, but sometimes there are massive losses.

Last year’s Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, was incredibly controversial throughout production and around its release.

It all began with Zegler slamming the 1937 Disney original, calling Prince Charming a “stalker”, before getting political during the promotions.

Thanking fans for watching the trailer on social media, she added: “Always remember, free Palestine” – an opposing view on the conflict to her Israeli co-star, leading to calls for boycotts on both sides.

In the end, the film’s producer, Matt Platt, flew to New York to plead with her to take down the comment, but she refused, and it’s still there to this day.

Zegler later doubled down when Trump was re-elected to a second term, slamming his supporters with expletives. Once again, the producer stepped in, but to no avail. On top of that, Snow White split little people, with some like Peter Dinklage slamming the idea of dwarfs featuring, while other actors with short stature were annoyed to miss out on a job opportunity. Soon, set photos revealed Snow White with a band of politically correct persons, with fans speculating this group would replace the magical dwarves. After backlash to the snaps, it wasn’t long before the film was delayed by Disney an entire year and suddenly CGI dwarves were revealed.

Featuring in the first trailer, Snow White became one of the most disliked videos on YouTube with over a million thumbs down. In the end, the $270 million movie (one of Disney’s most expensive blockbusters of all time) made just $205 million worldwide. And according to Forbes, in the end, the Mouse House lost a whopping $170 million on Snow White.
