A popular high street brand is opening a new store in one of Britain’s largest shopping centres. Urban Outfitters already has 35 stores across the country, and the new location in Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex will become its 36th. The new Urban Outfitters store will open on the lower level of the shopping centre this summer, with an exact opening date yet to be announced.

Lakeside is the UK’s 7th-largest shopping centre, and over the past three years, it has seen more than £100 million invested by brand partners in new shop fits. A number of other popular brands are set to open stores in the centre in 2026, including Hollister and JD Sports. Urban Outfitters is an American brand that has expanded worldwide, first entering the UK market in 1998. The new store will sell the brand’s own unique products as well as apparel and accessories from the likes of Levi’s and Dickie’s.

The new Urban Outfitters in Lakeside Shopping Centre will be 6,500 square feet in size, and will sell a mixture of menswear, womenswear, homewares, gifts and accessories.

Rob Jewell, managing director, asset management at Pradera Lateral, the asset management company for Lakeside, said: “Driven by a multi-million-pound Capex investment and an expansive leasing strategy, 2026 is set to be a transformative year for Lakeside.

“The arrival of Urban Outfitters reinforces that Lakeside is the place to be for brands that want visibility, volume and long-term growth, and marks an exciting beginning to the calendar year.”

Lakeside Shopping Centre is located in West Thurrock, Essex. It is a go-to shopping destination in East Anglia, with more than 250 retail stores.

Other popular brands shoppers enjoy in the centre include All Saints, Ann Summers, Boss, Calvin Klein, Clarks, Dune, Footlocker and H&M.

The shopping centre also has a plethora of entertainment options, including Laser Quest, Hollywood Bowl, Immersive Gamebox, Puttshack and a Vue cinema. Familiar high street restaurant brands in the shopping centre include Bella Italia, Burger King, Chipotle, Chopstix, Five Guys, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Nando’s.

Urban Outfitters has stores in numerous cities and shopping centres across England, including one in Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, which is the 5th largest shopping centre in the UK by area. It also has a UK headquarters in London.
