‘Harry and Andrew should be removed from line of succession’ – expert | Royal | News
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has shared that she believes Prince Harry and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should both face the same fate when it comes to their positions in the line of succession. Harry, who is the King’s second-born son, stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and has since relocated to the US.
The 41-year-old, who lives in California with Meghan Markle and their children, is still fifth in line to the throne, following Prince William and his three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Disgraced Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles last year over his connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is still eighth in line to the throne.
Andrew’s position follows Harry and Meghan’s children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet, who are sixth and seventh in line.
Speaking of Andrew’s fate, Ms Bond told The Mirror: “Of course Andrew should be removed from the line of succession. If you are not fit to be a prince, you’re certainly not fit to be King.
“It would also remove him as counsellor of state, which is another absurdity at the moment. Andrew is obviously not a suitable substitute for the King.”
She then said that other non-working royals and their children should also be removed, adding: “Personally, I think they should also remove Harry and his children [Archie and Lilibet], plus Beatrice, Eugenie and their children from the line of succession.
“I think to have William and his children followed by Anne (bumping her up the order) and Edward is more than enough. So I would propose a complete shake up of the succession order.

Following their mothers, Beatrice’s children, Sienna, four, and Athena, one, are 10th and 11th, whilst Eugenie’s sons, five-year-old August and two-year-old Ernest, are 13th and 14th.
Speaking of Andrew’s grandchildren, the royal expert added: “I think this long line of succession has become rather ridiculous. Very few people have any idea that someone called Athena Mapelli Mozzi or Ernest Brooksbank are 11th and 14th in line to the throne.”
