Game with 18 years of hype out on Switch 2 in December | Gaming | Entertainment

Looking for a new videogame to add to your Christmas list? There are 30 new titles landing in December before the big day.

But one particular title has 18 years of hype to live up to. Thankfully, Nintendo fans won’t have to wait much longer. Arguably one of the most anticipated games of the decade so far, it’ll arrive on the Switch 2 on December 4.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on the latest Nintendo console almost two decades after its predecessor, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption landed on the Wii in 2007. It has a lot to live up to following the acclaimed third instalment.

In the new game, Samus Aran finds herself dealing with an uneasy alliance between Space Pirates and Metroids, a companion named Myles Mackenzie, and antagonist Sylux in this new chapter of a series that has spanned nearly four decades.

Another highlight for December is the eagerly awaited Switch 2 port of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which releases on December 2, reports All Out Gaming.

The game, which originally launched on other platforms back in March, features two main characters – Naoe and Yasuke – and is set in late 16th-century Japan.

The Switch 2 version aims for a stable 30 frames-per-second in both handheld and docked modes, and also introduces touchscreen navigation for menus and maps.

Another big game series is making the transition to Nintendo’s flagship console. Football Manager 26 is scheduled to release on December 4 – exactly a month after PC and console versions went live.

Furthermore, a new updated version of Red Dead Redemption is arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2, too.
