Coco Gauff is aiming to win her second major singles title in the French Open final. The American tennis sensation will face Aryna Sabalenka today, having made it to the French Open final by triumphing over compatriot Madison Keys in the quarter-finals and then defeating French star Lois Boisson.

Having already tasted victory at Roland-Garros with a doubles title last year, Gauff hopes to improve on her 2022 singles final loss. The 21-year-old prodigy has been in the limelight for several years, first grabbing global attention when she beat Venus Williams at Wimbledon aged just 15. Gauff secured her first major win at the US Open in 2023 and currently holds the number two spot in the world rankings. A French Open victory would add the £2.15million ($2.9m) grand prize to her already substantial net worth.

Net Worth

Throughout her career, Gauff has amassed an impressive £17.9m ($24.3m) in prize money, already ranking her 18th on the all-time list of female tennis players. Celebrity Net Worth estimates her total wealth, including various endorsement deals, to be around £25.8m ($35m).

In 2024, Forbes named Gauff as the highest-earning female athlete. Her endorsements have included deals with New Balance and Italian food company Barilla.

Tennis sensation Gauff has raked in a cool £2m ($2.7m) in prize money this year alone, and could potentially double her earnings with a victory at Roland-Garros. Yet, she’s still trailing behind Serena Williams’ staggering career total of £70m ($94.8m).

Gauff shows true colours

Despite accumulating wealth that most can only dream of, Gauff demonstrated her grounded personality following her US Open triumph. Contrary to expectations of lavish spending after pocketing £2.2m ($3m), Gauff admitted to being indifferent about her new fortune.

On the Tennis.com podcast, Gauff shared: “I don’t like to spend money. When I had my first Grand Slam check, I wanted a car but my dad had already bought it and, I don’t know what to buy now.”

Gauff’s father rewarded her with a black Audi e-tron. Gauff later expressed her contentment during an Instagram live: “There’s nothing crazy materialistic that I really want,” she said. “I’m delighted with all that I have. I don’t want anything crazy.”

Post-U.S. Open, when asked what she wished for, Gauff joked: “A burger. That’s all I want.” She also voiced her desire for a holiday, with most of her travelling dedicated to her tennis career.

After her major success, Gauff still stayed at her parents’ home in Delray Beach, Florida. However, in November 2024, she revealed she had bought a house nearby, having previously gifted her parents a $1m mansion.

French Open focus

Gauff appeared completely at ease during a recent press conference when talking about her upcoming clash with world number one Sabalenka in the French Open final. Recalling her final defeat three years ago, Gauff explained that she feels much more assured this time around.

“My first final here, I was super nervous and I kind of wrote myself off before the match even happened,” Gauff admitted. “Obviously, here, I have a lot more confidence just from playing the final before and doing well in one. Going into Saturday, I’ll give it my best shot and be as calm and relaxed as possible. Whatever happens, happens knowing I put my best foot forward.”

When asked what had influenced her outlook, Gauff said: “Realising how minuscule it is. Everybody is dealing with way bigger things in life than losing a final. And also thinking and realising that however many players would have wanted to be in this position.

“I’m sure there’s hundreds of players that would kill to win or lose the final, so just knowing that makes me realise how lucky and privileged I am to be in this position. At first, I thought it would be the end of the world if I lost and the sun still rose the next day. So knowing, regardless of the result, that the sun will still rise.”
