Two incarnations of the Fantastic Four have existed over the last twenty years, and they’ve not been particularly well-received.

Even worse was the dark and gritty 2015 reboot, which left fans disappointed that once again, Marvel’s First Family hadn’t been given their due on the big screen.

The rights then went from Fox to Disney, and now, the four superheroes are part of the MCU, alongside Captain America, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange.

Set in an alternate universe’s 1960s, The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing.

Today, a new trailer has launched with a first look at Julia Garner’s female Silver Surfer, a character last played as male in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne.

This Silver Surfer isn’t entirely a gender swap, though, as a female version also exists in Marvel Comics. And given the MCU Fantastic Four is set in another universe, perhaps the male incarnation might show up in the future. Joining the cast is Mark Gatiss as talk show host Ted Gilbert, and we also had another sneak peek at Ralph Ineson’s Galactus, whose face we’ve yet to see.
