Europe’s ‘most walkable’ city that’s perfect for an autumn break | Europe | Travel
Car hire prices have soared, but Brits keen to avoid the hefty fees should think about a city getaway where walking is the only transport needed. The language learning platform Preply has analysed data to identify Europe’s most pedestrian-friendly cities, highlighting destinations where holidaymakers can bypass car hire altogether.
They’ve discovered urban treasures requiring minimal footwork between key attractions. Whilst a scenic location, Oxford, claimed the domestic title, it was a Spanish jewel that secured the crown for Europe’s most walker-friendly destination. Seville, the crown jewel of Andalusia, topped the walkability rankings, featuring just a 20-minute amble between essential sights, reports the Mirror. Beyond being the birthplace of tapas, Seville offers a wealth of cultural riches and serves as the heart of Spain’s most exuberant celebrations.
Tripadvisor’s top-rated Seville attraction, Plaza de Espana, captivates tourists with its 1928 splendour and offers peaceful canal boat excursions.
One Tripadvisor reviewer raved: “Stunningly beautiful! My favourite part of Seville.”
Another said: “Wow, wow, wow! Stunning architecture and scrupulously well kept. Not to be missed.”
While another visitor said: “This was an incredible place for us to visit. This is a must-see location for anyone visiting Seville.”
Beyond the plaza, the Real Alcazar de Sevilla and the city’s Cathedral are unmissable, while Parque de Maria Luisa offers a perfect slice of serenity.
Autumn proves the ideal time to explore Seville, as summer temperatures can soar to a blistering 40 degrees.
