European city with £31 flights named destination with the best food | Europe | Travel
One European city has been named the best travel destination for foodies. A recent study by Titan Travel analysed cooking class availability, ratings, pricing, and global search demand, finding that the Italian city of Florence is the best destination for food-filled holidays.
In fact, Florence wasn’t the only Italian spot to make the list, with Italy securing all three of the top spots: Palermo in second and Bologna in third. Rome then came in fourth, tying with Portugese capital of Lisbon. These two cities were followed by Venice, which tied for fifth with Brussels and Barcelona.
The experts found that Florence is home to 213,300 culinary experiences, including 231 cooking classes, 74.5% of which are rated four stars or higher.
And depending on when you book your trip, Skyscanner has flights to Florence starting from £31.
Commenting on the rise in food tourism, with holidaymakers including this as a rather important factor when booking holidays, Cassie Stickland, Product Manager at Titan Travel, said: “Today, travellers want to do more than just see the sights.
“They want to really experience a destination. Food is such a fantastic way to do that, because it connects you directly to local life and tradition. Taking a cooking class abroad allows you to do something, learn something, and return with a valuable skill.
“When planning your 2026 travels, look for tours that include a hands-on cooking experience. The best ones start with a market visit to get ingredients and end with you sitting down to enjoy what you’ve created.
“The most rewarding experiences tend to come from local chefs and family-run kitchens, where you’ll not only learn recipes but hear the stories behind them.”
