End of Oak Street trailer confirms huge twist fans did not expect | Films | Entertainment

A brand new sci-fi thriller is heading to the big screen within months, and it has already got cinemagoers declaring they are “so hyped”. The End of Oak Street will thrust viewers into a sudden enigma when one family’s home, along with the remainder of their street, are inexplicably transported to another location. Where precisely and what this place holds, fans are yet to discover. Starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, the film was produced by J.J. Abrams and written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. Audiences may also recognise Maisy Stella and Christian Convery amongst the cast.

A synopsis reads: “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighbourhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognisable surroundings.” Just this week, Warner Bros released a first look trailer, confirming exactly when audiences can catch the highly anticipated release. The film will premiere in cinemas and IMAX on August 14, reports the Mirror.

Following the trailer’s release on social media, scores of fans were quick to confess they were “hyped”, as one person wrote on Instagram: “A film I had no idea about. Now I’m All about it!”

Another remarked: “Finally a new dinosaur movie is coming this year… Please be good!” A third simply added: “Was not expecting the dino,” while a fourth commented: “Wait what?! The dinosaur at the end threw me off lol.”

One person remarked: “Look’s so good. I know it’s going to be my favorite movie of the year. I love the fact it’s going to be in IMAX.” Another echoed: “My MOST anticipated movie of 2026.”

Over on YouTube, one viewer wrote: “I’m so happy we are getting dinosaur movies that are not Jurassic World movies.”

Another commented: “Now this is how you do a trailer! I’m so tired of trailers nowadays giving away the entire plot. I have no idea what the movie is actually about but I’m in.”

A third added: “This looks fantastic!! Dinosaurs and humans in unfortunate situations feels terrifying again!! Director of IT FOLLOWS.”

In the trailer, audiences witness a peculiar incident that abruptly tears one neighbourhood from reality and transports it somewhere unknown. Anne Hathaway’s character can be heard saying: “I think our house, our neighbourhood, our whole street, has moved.”

In tense and dramatic scenes, the family is subsequently shown being pursued through what remains of their street by dinosaurs.

Previously titled “Flowervale Street”, the forthcoming film has left fans speculating whether there will be any connection or references to the Cloverfield franchise produced by J.J Abrams.

The End of Oak Street will be released on August 14.
