EE offers huge broadband speed upgrade for free, so check your postcode now
If your broadband feels well below par, you might want to check out a new offer from EE. The UK network, which is now part of BT, is about to start an internet connectivity trial which will beam 8Gbps speeds into homes. Along with being some of quickest broadband ever seen in the UK there is another bonus of signing up with this ultimate upgrade being offered totally free of charge. As a quick guide, homes with 8Gbps broadband would be able to download a full HD movie in under 10 seconds, that’s compared to over 8 minutes using old-fashioned copper wires.
This incentive isn’t just open to current EE customers, either, with the company saying anyone can join and give it a go.
The trial is part of EE testing new XGSPON network technology which will be used in the future to deliver ultra-fast speeds to homes across the UK. To minimise impact and reduce aniexty about losing a connection, EE says it will – where possible – install a separate broadband line dedicated to the XGSPON service. This allows customers to test the new technology alongside their current provider without affecting their everyday internet access.
There is one final bonus of signing up. EE has confirmed that it will check in with participants during the trial to gather feedback and understand how those chosen use ultrafast connectivity in day-to-day life. Consumers who complete the trial will not only receive the service free for a minimum of three months, but they’ll also get a £100 voucher as a thank-you as well.
So how do you get involved?
EE’s trial will commence in Guildford, Woking and surrounding areas. To register interest, customers can visit this EE link here from today, March 5.
The trial follows news that EE has recently become the first major network to offer all Full Fibre plans built with WiFi 7 connectivity as standard. This technology not only offers faster download speeds but also improved reliabiility and the ability to cope with more devices connected at the same time.
