easyJet has £15 flights to ‘paradise’ winter sun spot with 22C weather | Europe | Travel
With Christmas preparations in full swing and the threat of many more weeks of ice and snow, you may already be dreaming about escaping to somewhere warm to relax on a sunlounger.
Luckily, easyJet has some great deals on popular winter sun destinations in its Black Friday sale, with one way fares for less than the price of a takeaway pizza. One particular destination offers warm weather even in January and February, as well as beaches and plenty of sunshine. So, why not book a break to get away in the new year?
Agadir in Morocco is becoming an increasingly popular winter sun destination thanks to its mild weather during the winter months. In fact, there are usually eight or nine hours of sunshine, so you can enjoy longer days and take some time away from the UK’s miserable dark evenings. Throw in the fact that it boasts average temperatures of around 21-22C well into January/February, and it can be the ideal spot for enjoying balmier conditions.
Flights to Agadir from London clock in at less than four hours, so it’s also great for short breaks when you just want to get away from the cold, grey weather for a while.
One of the main draws of Agadir is its long, sandy beach, which stretches over five and a half miles. Its clean waters have earned it Blue Flag status, and it’s a popular spot for surfing due to its strong currents. Swimming can be more difficult, but when the tide is in natural pools form, which can be safe for taking a dip.
Along the beach is a lively palm tree-lined promenade with lots of bars, restaurants, and surf shops. It’s also where you’ll find many of the city’s most popular hotels, such as the Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Agadir which offers 24-hour all inclusive and a large pool with a swim-up bar. For a budget option, look at the Amadil Ocean Club which offers three pools, waterslides, and evening entertainment.
Head in-land and explore the colourful Souk El Had market. One of the largest souks in Morocco, this market in the heart of Agadir has over 6,000 shops selling everything from colourful rugs to locally-made ceramics, handbags, and souvenirs. You can also see a slice of Morocco’s history at La Médina d’Agadir, a unique attraction that recreates Agadir’s old town. An earthquake destroyed the original back in 1960, along with thousands of years of history, so this beautiful recreation allows you to experience exploring the narrow, ornately decorated streets that were lost.
Kids will love exploring Crocoparc, a zoo that specialises in crocodiles, snakes, and any scaly reptiles, who you’ll see basking in their natural desert landscapes. Another place to see wildlife and the area’s natural beauty is the Souss-Massa National Park. Book a tour and you can visit traditional Berber villages, spot rare birds, and explore unspoiled coastland.
Check easyJet’s website for the latest prices and availability. Fares from London Gatwick to Agadir start at £14.49 one way with dates available in January and March.
