Duchess Sophie shines in unique £4k necklace at Trooping the Colour | Royal | News
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, shone in an infinity pendant at King Charles’s Birthday Parade today as she stepped out without her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor. Duchess Sophie joined the wider Royal Family at Trooping the Colour, dressed entirely in forest green.
The wife of Prince Edward wore a silk dress featuring three-quarter puff sleeves, paired with an exquisite pillbox hat including her signature G.Collins and Sons Diamond Set Infinity Pendant worth £4,850, as stated on the jewellers’ website. The description of the necklace states: “This pendant holds a bolder presence, with a spray of diamonds set into the centre piece and a halo of diamonds surrounding it.” The pendant’s open-work design allows it to be worn directly on skin or over clothing – it’s a sentimental piece she’s worn consistently since 2017.
The mother-of-two styled her signature blonde hair in an elegant updo, complementing the look with subtle makeup that enhanced her features.
With both James, Earl of Wessex, and his elder sister, Lady Louise Windsor, absent from the event, their mother, the Duchess of Edinburgh rode to the parade ground in an open carriage along with Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence. Meanwhile, his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, travelled to Horse Guards Parade on horseback as the Colonel of the Scots Guards.
Louise is currently studying at the University of St Andrews, and James is an A-Level student at Radley College in Oxfordshire.
As Colonel of the Scots Guards, the Duke of Edinburgh wore the regiment’s full ceremonial uniform at Trooping the Colour. His attire included the Thistle Star and Sash, GCVO Star, Coronation and Jubilee medals, plus his New Zealand and Canadian orders.
As a personal aide-de-camp to the King, Edward wore ornamental braided aiguilettes on his shoulders. He bore the cyphers of both King Charles and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth.
Speaking of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, royal fans commented on their appearance today on X. One fan wrote: “These two are such assets to the Royal Family, hard working and loyal. I love that they colour co-ordinated as well.”
Another wrote of Sophie: “Love the dress & hat on Sophie!!”
One added: “She looks absolutely stunning! And just how sweet is the color matching with Prince Edward’s sash?”
Trooping the Colour is held annually as an official birthday event for the monarch, even though Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14. It dates back centuries and became an annual event in 1760.
It is one of the biggest military ceremonies of the calendar and this year it features more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 300 musicians and over 200 horses.
