As one of the largest providers of car parks in the UK has collapsed into administration, drivers have been issued fresh advice for when they are using the company’s services. NCP collapsed into administration and is now managed by PwC. Administration is a process whereby an outside party comes in and takes over control of the business in a bid to save all or part of it.

It usually occurs when a business has run into prolonged financial hardships. With the company’s future becoming uncertain, some drivers have been confused about how charges and fines will work going forward. In fact, people have even taken to social media sites like Reddit to ask if they still have to pay to use NCP’s car parks.

The company has hundreds of car parks around the country, located in major cities like London, Manchester and Birmingham, as well as car parks near hospitals and airports across the UK.

Motoring experts have warned drivers to still pay for services as usual, as the company remains operational under administrators. Meanwhile, those who have been issued fines have been encouraged to pay them to avoid further punishment down the line.

“A lot of people are confused about where this leaves them and we’re worried the news is going to catch some drivers out,” said John Wilmot, CEO of car leasing company LeaseLoco.com. “For the time being PwC have issued a statement saying that it’s business as usual.

“This means if you are using an NCP car park until further notice, remember to continue to pay for your parking as normal otherwise you can still face a fine.”

He added: “Those with existing fines should also treat these as they usually would by either appealing or paying it off. NCP has gone into administration which means it still exists, it’s just currently being run by PwC, this doesn’t make fines void all of a sudden.”

PwC recently issued a similar statement, informing people that fines that have been issued are still to be enforced. Its website reads: “The administration process does not cancel or invalidate any PCNs that have been issued. If you have received a PCN, you remain liable for payment in accordance with the terms and conditions of the car park.

“PCN [penalty charge notice] payments should continue to be made in the usual manner using the payment details stated on your PCN. The Administrators are continuing to operate the business, and existing payment channels remain active. If you experience any difficulty making a payment, please contact the details provided on your notice.”
