Donald Trump’s ‘genius’ four-word Queen Elizabeth II verdict | Royal | News

With rumours swirling about whether King Charles is indeed planning a state visit to the U.S. this coming April, which is yet to be confirmed, Donald Trump is reminiscing about the days he spent socialising with the Queen.

Trump conversed with author Susan Page for her book, The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, unveiling details about his dialogues with Queen Elizabeth II.

These reflections, including his admiration for the late Queen, and his questions about her favourite president, were disclosed in excerpts, published ahead of the book’s 14th April 2026 release.

According to Trump, one of the reasons he appreciated Queen Elizabeth II is because she was so unlike him, which could imply he aspires to emulate the royal.

“I hate to say this because it’s very disparaging to myself. She was sort of the opposite of me. She didn’t mix it up,” Trump admitted to the author.

“She was there for so many decades, and she literally never made a mistake, if you think about it. I mean, everyone was making mistakes around her, but she never made a mistake.”

He also spoke to Page about how Queen Elizabeth II’s diplomacy and that she didn’t speak ill of others, which might be because she adhered to the rule of “never complain, never explain.

“I said to myself, ‘How genius is this?'” he told the author. “I couldn’t get her to say a bad thing about anybody. She was amazing, actually. And not for any reason other than I don’t think she wanted to create controversy. It was unnecessary.”

The White House has discussed plans about King Charles and Queen Camilla making a visit this coming April but neither Parliament nor Buckingham Palace have released an official announcement.

Charles and Camilla are scheduled to be in the U.S. from April 27 to 29, visiting Washington D.C., New York City and a third location, which is expected to be rural, but hasn’t been revealed just yet.
