Donald Trump ally takes savage swipe at Meghan Markle in Piers Morgan interview | Royal | News

An ally of Donald Trump has taken a swipe at Meghan Markle in a new interview with Piers Morgan.

Tucker Carlson, an ex-Fox News host in America, did not hold back from slating the Duchess of Sussex in an interview with the journalist in Saudi Arabia.

When discussing Mr Trump’s return to the White House, Mr Carlson expressed his opinion that Meghan did not “represent Black people in the United States” and was used as a proxy by people who do not like the US President.

Discussing Mr Trump’s electoral victory, Mr Carlson said: “It was a whole class of people whose cart was being overturned by Trump and they used, kind of, symbolic figures like Meghan Markle, as you found out, as their proxies to hold power but those proxies never represented the groups they supposedly represented.

Meghan Markle does not represent Black people in the United States, I don’t know if you knew that?”

This blistering comment was then supported by the British journalist, who has famously shown a dislike towards the duchess, 43, time and time again before.

He told Mr Carlson: “No question she doesn’t. Don’t worry, I’m very familiar.

“She doesn’t represent anybody other than a very elite hypocritical group of people who are really going to go down in history as the most hypocritical group of people ever.”

The criticism from Carlson may not come as a surprise, as he is an avid supporter of Mr Trump, who is also famously not a fan of the duchess.

When talking about Meghan before, Mr Trump claimed the duchess and her husband Prince Harry, 40, disrespected the late Queen Elizabeth II when they decided to quit the working Royal Family in 2020 and move across the pond.

During an interview with British politician Nigel Farage on GB News in 2021, the now US President said: “I’m not a fan of hers (Meghan). I wasn’t from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly and I think some day he will regret it. I think Harry’s been used and been used terribly. I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen. She is trying do things that I think are very inappropriate.”

While Mr Carlson’s comments in the recent interview may be supported by some, people have spoken before in support of Meghan and how she can relate to the Black American community – a complete contradiction to the view expressed by the former Fox News host.

As reported by Newsweek, in a 2023 opinion piece for CNN, Sophie A. Nelson wrote: “Black women like me, who sat back and watched the media onslaught against Meghan Markle, have been nodding knowingly over the past few years. We have seen it all before. We live it every day in the form of microaggressions and outright racism.”
