David Beckham teases Arsenal fan son Romeo after Man United’s 3-2 win | Football | Sport
David Beckham has posted an exchange between himself and son Romeo on Instagram after Manchester United’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal. The former United winger has endured a turbulent week following Brooklyn’s public criticism of his parents.
Within the statement, Brooklyn alleged his parents have been manipulating the media narrative surrounding his family and have attempted to sabotage his marriage to wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. It’s believed the three have ceased all communication.
Nevertheless, Beckham maintains contact with Romeo. The 23-year-old remains the sole Beckham offspring to pursue football professionally, with Romeo featuring in Arsenal‘s youth system before moving to Inter Miami and Brentford B.
Romeo is a well-known Arsenal fan, and on Sunday, his father used social media to tease the Gunners following United’s first Emirates Stadium triumph since 2017. Accompanying a photograph of himself celebrating his iconic halfway-line strike against AFC Wimbledon in 1996, he posted: “You ok Romeo,” alongside some love hearts.
He subsequently shared another image of himself celebrating a goal from his playing career at United. “As the Boss would say ‘squeeky bum time’,” he posted. “That Gap is getting smaller.”
Romeo swiftly replied to his father on his own Instagram account. Sharing the Premier League table, which shows Arsenal sitting 12 points ahead of United, he commented: “don’t get too gassed. Mind the gap.”
United’s victory over Arsenal propels Michael Carrick’s squad into the top four positions. Since taking over from Ruben Amorim, the former midfielder has defeated the Premier League’s leading duo in Arsenal and Manchester City.
