Dad storms school to confront daughter’s bully – but hit with penalty | World | News

A father has been banned from his child’s school for a year after a series of heated confrontations linked to allegations that his daughter was being bullied. The Australian man – whose identity has not been revealed for legal reasons – confronted another student at the Queensland primary school whom he believed was bullying his daughter. During the confrontation, he reportedly warned her: “Next time you come near my family and you harass [child’s name] I am going to get her older sister to start harassing you.”

“Do you understand? We’ve had enough,” he continued. “Stay away from our family.” The following day, he returned to the school and launched into a profanity-laden rant at staff in the administration office. Court records have reported that he threatened to expose staff on social media, claiming he was going to “take all your jobs, your f***ing jobs”, and warned them to “keep your hands off my child”. He also recorded another confrontation with the deputy headteacher, which he later posted on social media.

Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) Christopher Taylor strongly criticised the father’s behaviour, calling it “egregious,” “intimidating” and “threatening”. The tribunal found that his actions could not be considered reasonable, regardless of his frustrations over how the school handled his daughter’s bullying complaints.

Although the father sent an email to the school expressing regret, the tribunal stated that he showed an “absence of insight” into the alarming and inappropriate nature of his conduct, according to News.com.au.

During his tirade aimed at the school staff, the man said, “It’s okay, just run the school how you’re doing. Say hi to social media because I’m going to take all your jobs your f***ing jobs, you c***s. If you’re asking us to leave – we’ll leave that’s fine – but be prepared.

“…and if you ever touch [child’s name] again, I swear to f***ing God. You keep your hands off my child. Do you understand? Do not touch my child.”

QCAT also refused his request to shorten the ban so he could attend his child’s graduation. In its ruling, the tribunal warned that, if not prohibited, there was a real risk he would repeat similar conduct. The man was handed several warnings in August 2022 and June 2023 for “unacceptable conduct” towards another parent from the school, who also cannot be named, resulting in a 60-day ban from school grounds on that occasion.

“His actions are to be condemned as atrocious… An adult should not at any time approach a young child in such a manner,” Mr Taylor said.

“There is no justification for it. It must be the subject of an admonishment.”

Mr Taylor said that despite the man’s purported frustrations with inaction over the bullying allegations, there was “no justification” for the abusive and rude language he used towards school staff.
