Croydon stabbing: Police swoop after horror broad daylight attack near | UK | News

Police have swarmed a busy London street after reports of a horror stabbing. One man has been taken into custody after the shock broad daylight attack in Frith Road, Croydon, close to a branch of Subway and a Holiday Inn hotel.

Officers swooped on the street after being called to reports of a stabbing at 9.07am on Saturday. They have cordoned off the area, close to the town’s Centrale Shopping Centre, while paramedics and the air ambulance also attended the scene. In a statement, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Frith Road at 9.07am on Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance are in attendance.

“A man is currently in custody and a cordon remains in place at the location.”

The latest incident comes just weeks after two murderers were jailed for at least 27 years after stabbing 22-year-old Rijkaard Siafa to death near Croydon’s Surrey Street market on April 12 last year.

Killers David Walcott, 35, and Rammon Mali, 33, went to the nearby Spread Eagle pub after the attack and bought three pints of Guinness.

In September 2023, 15-year-old Elianne Andam was stabbed to death in a row over a teddy bear outside Croydon’s Whitgift Shopping Centre.

Hassan Sentamu, then 17, was convicted of her murder and will spend at least 23 years in prison.
