American news channel CNN aired a video montage of Donald Trump‘s team speaking about the ongoing Iran conflict, which broke out in recent weeks, with mixed messages and contradictory explanations. In the first clip, a Republican said: “This is not Iraq – this is not endless.” In a second, Trump said: “We’re already substantially ahead of our time projections.” Another person shared: “I don’t know how long it will take – as long as it takes to achieve those objectives.” Meanwhile, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added: “The achievable objectives of Operation Epic Fury, we expect to last about four to six weeks.” In another clip, Trump said: “We’ve already won in many ways, but we haven’t won enough. Some people could say they are pretty well complete.”

However, in another video, he said: “I could call it, or we could go further, and we are going to go further.” He then noted: “I think soon [the war will be over].”
A recent CNN poll found that 59 per cent of Americans oppose the war, which began on February 28, 2026.
Trump recently said his goal was to ensure Iran could not develop weaponry to target the US, Israel or any US allies “for a very long time”.
Global oil prices have risen in recent days amid fears the war could disrupt energy supplies.
However, Trump said on Truth Social: “Short-term oil prices, which will drop rapidly when the destruction of the Iran nuclear threat is over, are a very small price to pay for the U.S.A. and world safety and Peace.”
During Prime Minister’s Questions today, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch called on Sir Keir Starmer to reverse a planned hike in fuel duty – but he said it is frozen until September and will be “kept under review in light of what is happening in Iran”.
