That’s a load of c**p,” Geri fumed as she laid down the law over her relationship with Christian Horner and whether she changed her name away from Horner. The singer became embroiled in her husband’s scandal last year and the fall-out has continued since.

Earlier this month, reports claimed that Ginger Spice had taken the decision to legally double-barrel her surname. She was initially known as Geri Halliwell, then Geri Horner, with new speculation that she would become Geri Halliwell-Horner.

The reported change prompted rumours that her marriage with Horner may have been on shaky ground, after he was accused of inappropriate behaviour by a Red Bull colleague last year before an internal investigation by the team cleared him.

Geri herself first poured fuel onto the fire last year. In a video for fashion brand Dior, she referred to herself by her maiden name.

“C’est moi! Geri, Geri Halliwell. Enchantée,” the 51-year-old said in the video as she dropped her married name at the Dior in Scotland exhibition.

She also goes by the double-barrelled name as an author. She is currently promoting the second instalment of her Rosie Frost series, with her name on the cover of the book as Geri Halliwell-Horner.

However, Geri has now moved to clear up any speculation in an X-rated rant, hitting back at the suggestion that her name has legally been changed.

She told The Times while holding up one of her books: “That’s a load of crap. It’s my writing name. I haven’t legally changed anything — Horner is the name on my passport.”

Geri went further in-depth about her marital life after publicly standing by the Red Bull team principal throughout the ordeal.

“I leave my phone out of the room,” she explained when asked about her writing process. “Sometimes I’ll wake up at 2am with an idea. Christian’s snoring and I’ll get out of bed and write.”

Does he read her books? “He was reading Ice on Fire on the plane to Australia. He loves them.”

They opt against extravagant dinners out for meals with their children together instead: “We prefer eating in — our daughter loves cooking.”

She is referring to Bluebell, who Geri had with a previous partner, while their son Monty and Christian’s daughter Olivia “will clear the table for financial reward”.

Speaking of Geri’s daughter, a first-year university student: “You know Bluebell is studying English literature. She’s brilliant at writing. I run things past her.”

When asked if she got that from her father Sacha Gervasi, a journalist turned screenwriter and director, Geri replied: “Her biological father, yes. Christian formally adopted her. It’s public knowledge.”
