Chelsea could do four deals today before transfer deadline | Football | Sport
Chelsea have had another productive transfer window, with Alejandro Garnacho becoming the club’s latest signing following the summer additions of a host of talented players. The Blues have snapped up the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens this summer and have been rewarded with an unbeaten start to the season.
Garnacho joined Chelsea on Saturday, with the west London giants stumping up £40million to sign him from Manchester United. And Blues boss Enzo Maresca will fancy his side’s chances of launching an assault on the Premier League title after falling away during the second half of the last campaign. The transfer deadline is fast approaching, but there is still time for the club to do more deals. And Express Sport takes a look at four deals Chelsea could wrap up before the summer transfer window slams shut at 7pm.
Fermin Lopez
The Chelsea squad is littered with attacking talent and the Blues will surely have no issues finding the back of the net this season.
But the five-time Premier League champions are still chasing the signature of Barcelona attacker Fermin Lopez.
Lopez, 22, came off the bench during Barca’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday after Chelsea reportedly submitted a £36.6million bid for the ace the previous day. And Chelsea will be hoping that was his final appearance for the Catalan giants.
Nicolas Jackson
Nicolas Jackson was heading towards a loan move to Bayern Munich, but the deal collapsed after Delap suffered an injury during his side’s clash with Fulham on Saturday.
Chelsea want the player back at Stamford Bridge but may be willing to cash in on the Senegal international should a permanent transfer be on the table. And another club could yet present a late bid, which would allow Chelsea to claw back some cash.
Axel Disasi
Crystal Palace are said to be in the mix to sign Axel Disasi as a replacement for Marc Guehi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
The 27-year-old centre-back has fallen down the pecking order under Maresca and hasn’t featured for his team this season. And if a bid comes in from the Eagles, it would be hard for Chelsea to turn it down.
Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling secured a surprise loan move to Arsenal on transfer deadline day last summer, but then failed to establish himself at the Emirates Stadium.
He has fallen out of favour in west London and appears to have no future at the club. So if a team express an interest in acquiring his services in another late summer transfer, Chelsea would likely accept it.
