Households in the UK could save an average of £238 per year on their energy bills simply by switching to a fixed tariff from a standard variable tariff, according to the latest data from Uswitch.com. Uswitch.com is urging households to run an energy comparison and switch to a fixed tariff to take control of their bills and start saving this winter.
According to Uswitch’s data, there are currently 26 fixed energy deals available on the market and that are cheaper than standard tariff rates, meaning households can reduce their heating bills immediately. Suzanne Edwards, energy expert at Uswitch.com, said: “Households risk missing the chance to cut their heating bills right now by not switching to a fixed energy deal. The average household could save around £238 if they chose to switch to the cheapest fixed deal on the market.

“If you haven’t fixed in a year or more, you’re probably on a standard tariff and paying more than you need to. Running a quick energy comparison is the best way to find out if you could lock in a cheaper rate.”
The cheapest current tariff according to the comparison website is Outfox Energy’s “Fix’d Dual Jan26 12M v1.0” with its fixed dual‑fuel tariff, which averages about £1,520 per year, which is £238 less than the January price cap.
A similar deal from the same supplier, Outfox Energy’s family variant, Fix’d Dual Jan26 12M v3.0 delivers nearly the same saving, at around £237 a year. Both deals carry an exit fee of £75 per fuel.
Fuse Energy also features strongly among the best deals. Its 13‑month fixed tariff comes in around £1,531 annually, saving £227, while the 12‑month fixed tariff averages about £1,543, saving about £215 versus the price cap. These tariffs have exit fees of about £50 per fuel and are available via Uswitch.com, Confused.com and directly through Fuse Energy.
Green suppliers are competitive too. Ecotricity’s one‑year fixed deal averages about £1,572, a saving of £186, and So Energy’s 12‑month green tariff comes in at around £1,600, saving £158. Good Energy’s one‑year fixed tariff averages £1,607, representing a £151 saving. All are available through Uswitch.com, Confused.com and the suppliers directly.
Longer deals also offer value: So Energy’s 18‑month green tariff delivers a £137 saving, while its two‑year green tariff averages around £1,671, saving about £87. Meanwhile, E.ON Next’s 12‑month fixed deal offers a saving of roughly £88 compared with the price cap, with exit fees of £50.
All prices mentioned are correct as of 11:15am on 2 February 2026. The tariffs highlighted by Uswitch.com are the cheapest non-bundle fixed deals on the market and do not include variable, tracker, pay-as-you-go, or renewal-only tariffs.
Prices and availability are subject to change without notice and may vary by region. These deals reflect the latest rates submitted to Uswitch by suppliers.
Some of these tariffs require customers to have a smart meter installed. Uswitch is one of the UK’s top comparison websites for home services switching. For 25 years, its experts have helped consumers secure better deals on energy, broadband and mobile services, saving customers over £2.7 billion on energy bills.
