Brits book £17 accommodation in Benidorm and share verdict | Travel News | Travel
You might be at your desk right now, fantasising about a getaway with your mates. However, the harsh reality is often that everyday expenses can gobble up our budgets, dashing our hopes for the dream trip.
Yet, one Benidorm regular has proven that a sun-soaked holiday doesn’t have to cost the earth, provided you’re savvy about where you stay.
Social media user Graham White, also known online as @benidormgrumet1, snapped up a penthouse in the sunny Spanish destination for the steal of £17 per person, per night.
The 48-year-old and his three friends ended up paying a mere £136 (€160) for a two-night stay – that’s only £68 (€80) a night split four ways, equalling a bargain £17 (€20) each per night.
There was a slight snag to this budget-friendly option, though – the risk of a tame time in a town famed for its nightlife, since the penthouse enforced a noise restriction rule after 11pm.
Graham acknowledged the amazing deal, admitting he “would stay there again,” but with a cautionary note about the quiet hours, because “you couldn’t be loud after 11pm”.
Further detailing his experience, he said: “Then again, you’re above the busiest nightclub in Benidorm that closes at 5am, so it’s bouncing all night.
“We always find cheap places. The cost of them puts people off, but we have stayed in some hotels that cost a fortune and then had a cheap £160-a-week apartment that is a lot better.”
Concluding his advice with honest insight, he added: “Don’t let the price put you off. We have stayed in some really rough places too – it’s not all good when it’s cheap – but 90% of the time they are sound”.
In the viral video, which has a staggering 750,000 views, Graham gave viewers a virtual tour of the astonishingly affordable accommodation they secured.
Showcasing an open-plan kitchen-living space complete with two sofa beds and a TV, Graham introduced his audience to their holiday flat.
The flat boasts a spacious bathroom featuring a walk-in shower and leads to a bedroom with twin beds and balcony access.
It appears that a couple of guests may need to compromise on comfort for sofa beds, but this might not deter everyone.
Graham also highlighted the flat’s extensive balcony adorned with furniture, boasting views of the pool, sea, and bustling strip below.
The video has garnered 16,000 likes and elicited 700 comments. Some past visitors relayed their experiences – with one user lamenting “too much noise” they had encountered during their stay.
A disgruntled commenter exclaimed about their restless experience: “I stayed there years ago and didn’t get any sleep for four days.”
Others expressed a desire to stay put, with one bluntly stating: “I’d rather stay at home.”
Yet another recognised its appeal but cautioned: “Looks decent, but nobody is getting any sleep in that location.”
Those venturing to Benidorm might want to surrender to the party atmosphere instead of worrying about noise. We’d recommend catching up on some kip by napping on the beach!
