Bradford explosion: Huge bang heard outside Costa Coffee shop | UK | News

Emergency services have swarmed a retail park in the UK city after a huge “explosion”. Members of the public reported hearing a loud bang across the Bolton Woods and Frizinghall areas in Bradford at around 10am on Sunday, March 29. A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service fire engine was soon seen in the car park of the Costa Coffee shop in Stanley Road, off Canal Road.

Figtherfighters attended to a badly damaged parked car, which had its sides crumpled and shattered glass on the ground around it. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) also dispatched a rapid response unit and an ambulance. They confirmed one person was taken to hospital.

A member of the public said they heard a “huge explosion” and saw people “in shock” after getting out of the car.

They told The Telegraph and Argus: “I was sat having my morning coffee when I heard this huge explosion.

“I presumed it was a crash, but when I looked there was nothing obvious until a fire engine parked up in the Costa car park and the crew began inspecting a car.

“It looked like the occupants were alright thankfully but seemed in shock and were checked over by the ambulance team.”

West Yorkshire Police were also in attendance, dispatching a van and two cars. Officers were seen talking to the firefighters next to the vehicle before two went into the Costa.

Firefighters left at 10.50am, while police and ambulance crews remained at the scene. All emergency services subsequently left, but the car remains parked up.
