Boost your Ring doorbell with this surprisingly cheap Amazon upgrade
Millions of homes already have Ring Doorbells attached to the front of their homes, with these smart cameras sending instant alerts should anyone press the bell. They can also store footage of what’s going on outside on the drive and have in-built speakers, allowing owners to chat with delivery drivers or tell cold callers they aren’t home. If you don’t already own one they can be picked up for half price at Amazon right now.
Ring Doorbells offers serious peace of mind, but there is now a cheaper way to ensure more areas are covered by this CCTV-style system. Amazon is running a limited-time sale on its Ring Outdoor Camera, which is powered by batteries and beams full HD footage to phones.
Thanks to its internal power pack, it’s easy to install since it doesn’t require wires or an electrician to visit. A fully waterproof case means it will survive the British weather, and it can keep filming when the sun goes down, thanks to night vision technology.
There’s even an in-built speaker for two-way conversations. Of course, this camera can be used as a standalone device or added to the other feeds from the Ring app.
Once placed on the account, users will then see feeds from their Doorbell and other cameras in one place.
The Ring Outdoor Camera Battery usually costs £79.99, but that price has tumbled to just £44.99 in this latest sale. There’s even a 30-day free trial of Ring Subscription, which offers footage to be stored and viewed at a later date.
The only thing to note is that Amazon says this will be a “limited time” discount, so there’s not long to take advantage.
There are plenty of rival devices on the market, including Google’s Nest Outdoor cameras, which are also battery-powered. These start from around £110. Swann, Eufy and Arlo are other names to watch out for with Argos just one store offering half-price deals on these devices.
