A body has been discovered in the search for a 34 year old man who vanished nearly two years ago, according to police.
Dean Hill, from Newbury, West Berkshire, was reported missing in November 2023. On Wednesday, Thames Valley Police officers retrieved a body from the river near the Hambridge area of West Berkshire.
The force stated that formal identification is yet to take place, but they believe it to be Dean.
His death is currently being treated as one that is unexplained, said the police. They added that the coroner has been notified.
Detective Inspector Stuart Streeter commented: “Sadly following calls from a member of the public, officers have recovered a body from the water, which we believe is missing man Dean.”, reports the Mirror.
“Our thoughts remain with Mr Hill’s family, who have been informed of the discovery. At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and the coroner has been informed.”
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police stated: “Officers from Thames Valley Police yesterday (23/7) have recovered a body from the river near the Hambridge area of West Berkshire.
“Formal identification has not yet taken place but we believe that it is missing person Dean Hill, aged 34, from Newbury. Dean was reported missing in November 2023.”
This week, a body was discovered during the search for a woman who disappeared after venturing out for a run in the early hours.
Rachel Booth, 38, was last observed by relatives in the Barnton area of Northwich on Friday, before being spotted again some five miles away at the Sandiway garage on the A556 road.
At the BP petrol station, Rachel appeared on CCTV purchasing milk and wine at 3:50am following her late-night jog.
Officers believed she may have made her way to the Oakmere area of Delamere, and revealed they were becoming “increasingly concerned” for her wellbeing as residents reported witnessing her attempting to hitch a lift whilst appearing “distressed”.
This afternoon, Cheshire Police confirmed they had discovered a body.
