Boden rain mac in ‘gorgeous’ colour reduced from £139 to £55

Whatever the season in Britain, a quality waterproof jacket is a wardrobe essential. Now, Boden has slashed the price of a fully waterproof and stylish raincoat which could be ideal for spring showers.

The Lightweight Rain Mac in Hazelnut Brown was £139 at Boden, but now costs £55.60 and is available from sizes 8 to 22. It also comes in Navy at the same discounted price, or Woodland Green with Colourblock or Neutral and Pink for full price.

Made from 65% cotton and 35% polyester, the jacket is machine washable and fully waterproof with zip and popper fastenings for security. It falls between the waist and hip, has secure pockets, and the essential hood.

As an alternative, Next also has a Burgundry Red Rubber Rain Jacket for £22 down from £65, though it’s only available in sizes medium and large. This one is also machine washable and has a hood, pockets and a zip, making it both practical and fashionable.

There’s also the Black Rain Resistant Hooded Jacket at Roman, which is £30 down from £55. While not completely waterproof, it would help keep wearers dry in a sudden bout of rain – and it also comes in pink for £35.

Shoppers seem to be loving the Boden coat. One said: “Wasn’t expecting to love this coat as much as I did, felt a little shapeless when I first tried it on but the cuffs and hood are adjustable. Great colour – shame not more colour choices. Perfect for those of us that don’t like to drive in bulky full length coats. Definitely a keeper.”

Another added: “The coat fits perfectly! I love the colors and the length! It will be perfect for a rainy fall day!”

A third said: “I love this raincoat! It’s so chic and looks great both dressed up and dressed down. I bought a size up so that it would fit nicely over sweaters and it fits perfectly.”

However, some found the fit wasn’t quite right for them. One said: “I agree with another reviewer that it is very large in the back. I’d size down. I’m 5’4″ 135lbs and could think 4 (or even size 2) would have looked better on me. I wore it cycling in the Loire Valley, and it kept the rain out pretty well – although does not provide any warmth, as expected.”

Another noted as part of a longer review: “Wildly oversized. I’m between eight and 10 in Boden tops, but the size 8 was still wildly oversized swallowing my 5’3″ frame.”

The Lightweight Rain Mac is available at Boden.
