Beautiful UK spot for a picnic and walk with rows and rows of lavender | Travel News | Travel

With the recent spell of clear skies and some sunshine, there is no better time to embark on an outdoor escapade. If you want to get away from your hometown and head out on a nice walk, there are plenty of options.

Whether you are looking for a long, hilly hike or a shorter, less taxing route, there are a swathe of beautiful trails on your doorstep. This amazing area is filled with all that – and is perfect for those looking for a picnic spot.

This pretty village near Shoreham in North Kent, known as Castle Farm, is mesmerising thanks to its fields with rows and rows of lavender plants which bloom at this time of year.

The spot is open all year round and is a perfect picture location. Castle Farm states: “This year the fields are very early to bloom, so we recommend you visit as soon as you can before we start harvest in late July.”

You can enjoy a picnic on the grass while admiring the lavender and the stunning views.

Many people love to pop to the farm’s award-winning farm shop where they can pick up fresh beef, apples, apple juice, hops, dried flowers, Kentish lavender and honey. You can also pick up gifts, cards, crafts, seasonal decorations, food hampers and local, traceable produce.

The amazing location has gone viral with people sharing jaw-dropping videos and photographs online. Friends Olivia and Mariella recently visited and shared their experience.

On TikTok, the pair shared: “Point of view: You go for a picnic at a lavender farm. Picked our spot. They sell lavender lemonade. So pretty. You can bring your own picnic and there’s fruit and cocktails you can purchase on site too.”

The pair also explained: “You have to book the BYO picnic, I just checked the website. You get a 2.5 hour slot, and it’s £14 for adults, £7.50 for children. Perhaps you looked at the Lavender tour or just the price for walking.”

The pair hailed it as “the cutest day out”. They also tried some honey from the farm shop, insisting it was “amazing”.

Commenting on the post, one individual said: “It’s so fun as a local when people from all around the world come here in early summer and I see them taking pictures of the tractors and cows and stuff!”

“This would heal me,” insisted one other. “Omg this is unbelievable,” commented another. Another said: “This is miles away from me but I think it’s worth the trip.”

One other said: “I would love to go, this seems amazing. I wonder if I would get sleepy though lol lavender definitely helps me fall asleep easily.”

Another wrote: “This would be my absolute dream, lavender is my favourite flower.”
